Dylan Roof (Charleston Church shooting, 2015) – spent an hour at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina before opening fire and killing three men and six women on June 17, 2015. Roof, 21-years-old at the time of the shooting, voiced racist views and told a friend he had a plan to do something “for the white race.” Roof was arrested twice before the shooting, both times at the Columbiana Mall in Columbia, South Carolina. When Roof was arrested the first time on February 28, a mall security guard searched him and found “orange strips,” which Roof admitted were “suboxone,” a Schedule 3 narcotic that’s prescribed as a step-down drug for the treatment of opiate and painkiller addiction. Suboxone has been connected with sudden burst of aggression.
