Matthew Skalitzky (Sun Prairie, Wisconsin 2015) – stabbed and beheaded his 68-year-old mother, Jane Skalitzky, with a 4-foot sword shortly after having breakfast with his parents at their home in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin on September 16, 2015, according to Madison.com. Jane Skalitzky then drove her 40-year-old son to the townhome where he sometimes stayed. Reports describe Matthew Skalitzky as being anxious, agitated, distant and unemotional prior to the attack. After going upstairs with her son, Matthew Skalitzky’s roommate reported hearing Jane Skalitzky say “No, no, no.”
By the time he got upstairs, he found Matthew Skalitzky holding a sword and standing over his mother’s lifeless body. She had been decapitated and had wounds to her hands, according to the roommate.
Matthew Skalitzky had a history of mental illness and had reportedly stopped taking his prescribed medication after reading “negative comments” about the drugs online, but resumed taking them a few days before the attack, accoding to Matthew Skalitzky’s father. While a search warrant uncovered a variety of prescriptions and other medications in both Matthew Skalitzky’s townhome and his parent’s residence, it’s unclear what exactly the accused killer was taking at the time of attack. The warrant also found a machete and a .380 semi-automatic pistol at the townhome.
Matthew Skalitzky, who was charged with First Degree Intentional Homicide, said his mental illness caused him to see people, including his mother, as “inhuman clones.” After attacking his mother, Matthew Skalitzky told his roommate he “hacked a clone.”
