Jared Lee Loughner (Jared Loughner Arizona shooting, 2011) – shot and killed 6 people, including US District Court Judge John Roll at a Congress on Your Corner event held by Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz), his intended target. Giffords and 13 others were injured in the January 8, 2011 attack near Tucson, Arizona. Many close to Loughner, who was 24-years-old at the time of the shooting, describe him as being unstable in the days leading up to the shooting as he routinely obsessed over lucid dreaming, documenting the dreams in a journal.

While Loughner was suspected of developing a mental disorder, possibly schizophrenia, around the time of the shooting, he had not been diagnosed as such. Loughner tested negative for any type of drugs, but exhibited symptoms resembling that of someone coming off psychotropic medication. Since incarcerated, Loughner’s been on a drug regimen of anti-psychotics, anti-anxiety and antidepressants to counteract symptoms similar to Parkinson’s disease. http://content.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,2042358-1,00.html
